Surgical treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms
Hybrid operations on the aortic arch (H.G. Borst operation)
One of the main factors of the intraoperative period is the protection of the spinal cord.
Prolonged aortic clamping at the level of the descending thoracic section leads to increased CSF pressure and decreased systolic pressure distal to the clamp, thus reducing spinal cord perfusion.
Draining lowers the CSF pressure, thus increasing the perfusion pressure and improving the blood supply to the spinal cord and therefore, reducing the risk of ischaemic damage.
LiquoGuard® allows the rate and amount of drained CSF to be programmed in a controlled and safe manner according to the CSF pressure and guarantees appropriate spinal perfusion.
